Shearin Murphy-Higgs, M.D.Dr. Shearin “Dez” Murphy-Higgs’ approach to medicine exists in the balance between evidence-based practice and compassionate patient care. As a board-certified internist—and the newest physician with Harsch and Osborne, M.D., P.C.—Dr. Murphy-Higgs brings to the group notable expertise in cardio-vascular disease, critical care, diabetes, hypertension and geriatrics. In addition to practicing medicine, he likewise has a strong interest in progressive business strategies that seek to improve patient-care, increase practice efficiency and generate cost-savings.

Dr. Murphy-Higgs received his medical degree from The Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio) and his undergraduate degree in Biology (honors) from State University of New York, Albany. In addition, he completed medical residency at Temple University Hospital (Philadelphia, PA), subsequently serving as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine (2002-2003).

Professionally, Dr. Murphy-Higgs was a physician partner with Consultants in Internal Medicine/Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia (2003-2009) and lead physician for a private practice with MainLine Healthcare in suburban Philadelphia (2009-2012). He also served on the board of the Virginia Chapter of the American College of Physicians (2007-2008).

Committed to medical and community education, he was an instructor of Internal Medicine at Temple University; and occasionally presents community seminars on myriad health issues, including diabetes prevention and cardio-vascular health.

With offices currently in Fayetteville and Stockbridge, Georgia, Dr. Murphy-Higgs cares for patients in the Stockbridge location most days, and one Saturday each month on a walk in basis at the Fayetteville location. Dr. Murphy-Higgs also cares for patients of the practice that are hospitalized (Southern Regional and Henry Medical) on a rotating basis.

Dr. Murphy-Higgs’ hobbies include playing chess, wine-tasting, listening to jazz and R&B, politics, entertaining friends, watching sports; and spending time with his lovely wife Kenyette and three adorable kids, Ryan, Harper and Miles.
